Common Complaints About Conventional Dentures

Dentures have been used to treat missing teeth in some form for much of human civilization. While the dentures you see today differ significantly from the ones dated back to the 7th century BC, it is not the most innovative treatment for missing teeth.

Patients today complain about their dentures for several reasons, mainly that they are loose-fitting and do not have the stability that patients want.

Your jawbone structure can change over time which can have you making repeat visits to your dentist for a new set. If you do not replace ill-fitting dentures, your dentures can irritate your gums which can lead to gum disease.

Please keep reading to learn how mini implant dentures compare to conventional dentures.

Mini Implant Dentures vs. Conventional Dentures

If you are looking for stability from your dentures, being able to snap them onto mini dental implants might be exactly what you are looking for. Mini implants anchor your dentures, whereas conventional dentures rely on adhesive to hold them into place.

Mini implant dentures give you the peace of mind that your dentures won’t slip and slide out while you are talking or laughing, and they won’t go anywhere until you snap them off your mini implants.

What conventional dentures lack is the amount of pressure your jawbone requires to prevent bone density loss. Mini dental implants allow your dentures to place enough pressure on your jaw that you are not at the same risk of jawbone deterioration.

What to Expect from the Procedure

Once you have been screened and deemed a good candidate for the procedure, you will schedule an appointment to have your mini implants placed.

We provide a treatment known as Fix-on-Six, which involves implanting six posts to hold your snap-in dentures. For top and bottom dentures, you will receive 12 total mini dental implant posts, which will be your base for your dentures.

If you have a dental phobia or anxiety and are concerned about only having local anesthesia for the procedure, you can discuss sedation options with your dentist during your consultation.

Mini dental implants are a minimally invasive procedure. We primarily use conscious sedation options for anxious patients instead of general anesthesia unless completely necessary.

Financing Your Mini Implant Dentures

Dental insurance companies will not always offer coverage for mini implant dentures because conventional dentures are often the cheaper option. However, many patients prefer to snap their dentures into mini implants rather than rely on denture adhesives.

We aim to make our treatments accessible by offering financing options. We offer free consultations and several options to finance your treatment. If you are interested in learning about our financing options, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our office for more information.
